Settings
If your recordings land late against the click, fix it once for the setup you record with. Speaker: no headphones, stay quiet for 3 seconds; the app listens for its own clicks. Headphones (incl. AirPods): put them on, then clap on each click for 8 clicks; the app times your claps. Redo it whenever you switch headphones.
Using AirPods? Keep them for listening only and set the Microphone above to your device's built-in mic (Deja VU picks it automatically when it can). Recording through the AirPods' own mic forces Bluetooth into phone-call mode (that's the muffled "filtered" sound) and makes latency worse. For the tightest timing, wired headphones are still the gold standard.
